Playoffs Heating Up Big Time

Last night in the first round of the Western Conference Finals Dirk Nowitzki scored 48 points in a win over the Oklahoma City Thunder to take a 1-0 series lead. Nowitzki hit a playoff record 24-24 free throws attempt and was a beautiful 12-15 from the field. The Mavs led by Nowitzki's 17 point in the 3rd quarter took a 90-79 lead entering the 4th. However in the 4th the Thunder came back on a 12-2 run to come within five points, but Nowitzki scored his first field goal in the 4th to put the Mavs up 10 and never looked back. Two Nights ago the Chicago Bulls face the big three and the Miami Heat but the Bulls silenced them quickly. The Heat hung around through the first half being tied after two quarters at 45-45. Derrick Rose did not play well committing three early turn overs and silly fouls, but he came out early in the 3rd and hit three 3s and the rest of his team responded by going 10-21 for the night. The Bulls out scored the Heat 55-34 in the second half. Chicago and Miami will hit the court again tonight at 8:00 for a must win game two at the Rose Garden.

No Three-Peat This Year

This year the NBA will crown a new champion for the first time in almost three seasons. Kobe Bryant and the two time defending world champs, Los Angeles Lakers were swept out of the 2nd round of the Western Conference semi-finals. The Dallas Mavericks won all four games and finished the last game with a bang. An 86-122 loss marks the second worst playoff loss in former Lakers Coach Phil Jackson and Kobe Bryant. The Lakers season has come to a close but something much bigger and greater has finally come to an end. The most successful coach in NBA history Phil Jackson has retired. His resume includes winning five NBA titles with the Lakers led by Bryant, and winning six titles in the 80s and 90s with Michael Jordan leading the way. However much you may dislike the Lakers you cannot help but honor such a great coach and even better person.

End of the Year

The season came to a close following a first round playoff series loss, in a best-of-7 series against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder led by allstars Kevin Durant and Russel Westbrook each averaging +25.0 ppg cruised to a 3-0 series lead until the Denver Nuggets won a potential eliminating game at home. However the Nuggets couldnt pull off a magical come back, but they truely had a magical season, considering all that has transpired over the past 6 months. Crutial desicions lay in front of the front office to decide who is staying and who is going...

Time For a Rematch

Following Tuesday's heartbreaking 94-101 loss to the Northwest leading Oklahoma City Thunder, the Nuggets came back to defeat the Dallas Mavericks on the road 96-104 to rid the bitter taste of losing a game to a division rival. But to all Denver fans tonight is a night of revenge to steal a game from the Thunder after playing them only three days ago. With four games left in the regular season each game has a playoff atmosphere in the building, which is why tonight's game is a must win because in the playoffs we will have to be able to win away from our home building. Lets show this team what were really made of.

4 Game Winning Streak

After coming out on Wednesday night again the Sacramento Kings, the Nuggets were not playing good basketball. Having four days off clearly showed a little rust on the offensive gears. But in the 2nd half they broke out of that with a 33-20 3rd quarter to take the lead. They never again looked back. Now since the mega deal the Nuggets are on a 10-game home winning streak, four straight overall, and 13-4 since the trade. The Nuggets are currently one of the hottest teams in the NBA just in time for the final 8 games of the regular season with the playoffs looming around the corner.

Comeback of the Year!

On  March 23rd, at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado the new-look Nuggets took the court to play against the top team in the NBA this season, the San Antonio Spurs. In the first half of play the Spurs looked like a team on a mission to win a Championship, finding us down by five at half with the largest lead blooming to 14. However the second half was a completely different story. In the 4th the Nuggets went on a 11-0 run to steal the lead for the first time since the opening minutes when they lead 3-2. The game came down to the final possession, with 6 seconds left Wilson Chandler a freshly acquired Nugget took the ball and hit a jumper just inside the free throw line to take the lead, and the Nuggets never looked back.

Back on Track

After Saturday nights loss against the big "3" and the rest of the Miami team the nuggets get another shot to stop this streak. So far since the trade the Nuggets are 9-4, where as the Knicks have dropped to a lowely 6-7 record. While the Nuggets have certainly inproved their teams playoff position New York is doing exactly the opposite. Before the trade the Nuggets resided in the 7th playoff seed and are now in sole control of the 5th seed. The Knicks before the trade were in the 6th place playoff seed in the east and have now since dropped down to 7th place.
